History Archives Updated

Halloween Party - $1.50 per Couple

Well, in 1948 perhaps.

P/C Frank Foster, III has been hard at work updating the online Digital BLYC History Archives.  In addition to scanning in the 2009 issues of The Log, he has come across some real history gems and put them on the site as well... Including the October 1948 Log announcing a Halloween Party for just $1.50 per couple!  My how things have changed.

CLICK HERE to visit the BLYC History page.  The Digital Archives are near the bottom of the page and include old issues of The Log, old photos, and even a Club directory from 1948-49.

Thanks Frank for all your continued work!

Snowball Regatta - 2009

THANK YOU!

To all those who participated in and helped with the 2009 George Fisher Snowball Regatta.  Chairman John Watson, Governors Scott Evans, Rick Myers, and their committee did a wonderful job organizing the event.  A special thanks to:

  • PRO Tim Black from Cowan Lake Sailing Association
  • Race Committee Volunteers - Gov. Rick Myers, P/C Will Price, Bruce Pfahl, Dan Knaul, and Tim Ryan
  • Chief Judge - Stone Parker
  • Registration - Susan Watson & Jenny Romine

  • and so many more...

It was, once again, a great event for BLYC and a fun time for all.

Matt Fisher, former BLYC Junior Sailor, and his crew held on to win the Lightning Class World Championships this past weekend in Vermont.  Matt grew up sailing at BLYC and has represented us and all inland Ohio sailors well for many years.  Among his many sailing accomplishments, Matt is a former Lightning Class Junior North American Champion and won the Gold Medal sailing in the 1991 Pan American Games.  In 1995, Matt was the recipient of BLYC's coveted Heber Yachtsman Merit Trophy.
